Funding
Lancaster's International Youth Games Committee, took over Lancaster's involvement in the International Youth Games back in 2016, with Lancaster due to host the Games in 2017.
We had huge support from Lancaster University Sport Centre (Sport Lancaster), and the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund. Without these two main sponsors, the event would not have been possible. We also had some support from Stagecoach, who provided us with free transport for the teams, and Salt Ayre Leisure Centre let us use some of their facilities free of charge also.
In 2019, we had the privilege of local legend, John McGuiness hosting a talk for us (free of charge), at Morecambe Golf Club (who let us hold the event there free of charge.), which raised over £2,000 for the teams.
Since then, we have been working on funds for the next time Lancaster Will host the Games, the date of this has changed a few times due to the pandemic, but is currently 2023.
We are always looking for any possible fund raising opportunities, as hosting the Games is a great expense.
